Angeline shows her medals she received during her graduation along with her family.

“These medals and recognition are the fruits of sacrifices of my parents. Our simple way of living served as my inspiration to study hard because poverty through hardwork is not a hindrance to success,” said Angeline Jean T. Agustin, 16, from Brgy. Maruaya, Piddig, Ilocos Norte  who graduated as Valedictorian in Piddig National High School, recently.

Angeline stated that the medals she received attest that being a Pantawid Pamilya beneficiary is something to be proud of because the program served as her gateway in achieving her dreams for her family. She plans to take Bachelor of Science in Mathematics at the Mariano Marcos State University in Batac City. She also passed the scholarship examination of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) which she believes a great help for pursuing her degree in college.

According to her, as a way of return to the educational assistance given by the government through DSWD, she strived and exerted extra effort for her studies that led her to graduate with flying colors. Coupled of her being a program beneficiary is excelling in all her subjects in school and being a role model to her fellow students on giving their best in studying.

With teary eyes, her mother, Aurea, is filled with joy because of Angeline’s achievement. Aurea said that this was the only time that she and her husband, Ruben, experienced to be at the stage and being applauded by the public while witnessing the awarding of Angeline.

Ruben, her father, said that Angeline’s achievement is the realization of his dream to finish his studies for he only made it on the 4th grade. He also added that with God’s continuous guidance, may Angeline continue her devotion and determination to study hard in college for her to graduate and get a good job that may uplift their economic status in the future.
