“Isa akong benepisiario noon na tinutulungan at ginagabayan ng Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program pero nakahanda na ako ngayon na maglingkod sa Departamento at sa mga dating kapwa ko benepisiario (I was then a beneficiary who is being helped and guided by the Pantawid Pmailyang Pilipino Program but now I am ready to render service to the Department for my former co-beneficiaries),” said Amelita Alcaras, a former Pantawid Pamilya Parent Leader and now a Social Welfare Assistant.
According to her, she realized that the employment given by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to her means that a beneficiary like her is given importance in the professional world.
“Naging daan ang DSWD para gumanda ang buhay ng pamilya ko sa pamamagitan ng Pantawid Pamilya. Isang malaking karangalan at biyaya na nangyari sa buhay ko itong pagtatrabaho ko sa DWSD (DSWD led my family to a better way of living through Pantawid Pamilya. To work and serve here is really an honor and a great blessing that happened to my life,”) she added.
To overcome the challenges of her life, she chose to make herself busy and productive. She asked the guidance of the Almighty as she took up Certificate of Teaching at the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) Open University through the sponsorship of a relative.
She claimed, “Ang masasakit na pinagdaanan ko sa buhay ang nag-udyok sa kin para magpursigi para sa mas maayos na kinabukasan (The trials that I went through served as my inspiration and motivation to persevere for a brighter tomorrow.”)
This is because of Pantawid Pamilya’s intervention on her life journey guided with 5Cs — Competence, Compassion, Commitment, Conscience, and Christ-centeredness coupled with sacrifice, determination, and dedication.
She stressed that these 5Cs led her to be a Pantawid Pamilya staff and assured to give her very best to be of service to the Department and to the program beneficiaries as well.
“Ang tagumpay ay hindi nakakamtan sa isang kisap mata lamang bagkus kalakip nito ay sakripisyo, sipag, tiyaga at determinasyon (Success cannot be attained in just a wink of an eye but it is coupled with sacrifice, diligence, perseverance, and determination,” Amelita courageously claimed.
