In a dazzling display of unity and commitment to community service, the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 1 ((DSWD FO 1) launched the Angels in Red Vest (ARV) initiative. This launch, synchronized with other field offices across the nation, marks a significant step forward in enhancing disaster response and community support efforts.

The highlight of the launch was a vibrant flash mob featuring the ARV theme song. Dancers adorned in red vests showcased an array of ARV merchandise, including pins, tumblers, t-shirts, tote bags, caps, umbrellas, notebooks, and ball pens. The lively performance not only captivated the audience but also conveyed the essence of ARV’s mission – to deliver services with passion, extra love and extra care.

The brand story of ARV traces its roots to the dedicated DSWD officials, employees, and community members actively participating in the department’s on-the-ground initiatives. The red vests worn by these individuals became a symbol of hope and assistance in and outside the office ensuring that help had arrived and a path to recovery was on the horizon.

DSWD’s social workers and social development workers are recognized as “angels” for their commitment to providing care, comfort, and support beneficiaries. They are the unsung heroes who, in the face of adversity, assure those in need that they are not alone. Their presence represents a beacon of hope and a promise of restoration, embodying the principles of pure intention and genuine concern for the well-being of others.

The ARV initiative is not only about providing immediate relief but also inspiring others to join the cause. Their work encourages individuals, whether as part of the DSWD or independently, to contribute with the same dedication and heart with the lead of the agency’s mandate to develop, implement and coordinate social protection and poverty-reduction solutions for and with the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged.

Regional Director Marie Angela S. Gopalan gracefully engages in the flash mob.

“Wearing that vest is not enough, wearing that vest should come with a necessary action delivering social welfare and development every single day, every single minute, every single second”, DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian expressed during the launch which was in line also with the 73rd Anniversary of the department.

As ARV takes flight in DSWD Field Office 1 and beyond, the red vests will continue to symbolize resilience, compassion, and the unwavering commitment to rebuilding lives. The launch event exemplified the spirit of community, with the flash mob serving as a visual representation of the collective effort to make a positive impact in the lives of the beneficiaries and a raffle draw for the angels in commendation of their earnest dedication. The ARV initiative is set to become a shining example of unity and compassion in the face of adversity, fostering a culture of support and solidarity in communities across the nation.
