A Youth Group composed of 4Ps children formally organized in Brgy. Maticmatic, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan. It was spearheaded by the DSWD Field Office 1 – 4Ps Regional Program Management Office aimed at having a regular of Youth Development Session. Specifically, with the formation of Youth Group was initiated to develop leadership abilities of the youth; empower them in their decision making; encourage them to participate in a wide range of activities appropriate to their age; provide a safe place for them where they can optimize their personal growth; and boost their desire to contribute to their community.

 The group united their vote to position Princess Darlene Mae Balauro (first photo) and Ma. Rossel Dela Cruz as their Youth Leader and Assistant Youth Leader respectively, who both explicitly relayed their eagerness to strengthen the group’s relationship and to guide each other to become more productive youth and community members.

Youth Leader Princess Darlene led the members in taking their Oath of Commitment after her oath taking together with Assistant Youth Leader Rossel led by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer (MSWDO) Wilma Coqiua.

“Sa pamamagitan ng grupong ito, matuturuan kayo kung paano tahakin ang maayos na buhay. Kayo ang kabataang binago ng youth group na ito at magiging role model sa kapwa ninyong kabataan (With this group, you will be taught on how to take the right path in life. You are the youth that were transformed by this youth group and will become models to your fellow youth),” shared MSWDO Coquia.

 Municipal Administrative Officer Miraflor Ocampo inspired the 4Ps children. He said, “You are trained to be leaders of our nation. You are called the young breed of leaders. Our nation needs a good leadership.”

Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan is the pilot area in the Region for this activity. DSWD FO 1 – 4Ps and shall continue to organize more Youth Groups in other provinces of the region. (by: Jaesem Ryan A. Gaces, Information Officer II / Pantawid Pamilya)
