DSWD Field Office 1 Home for Girls (HFG) celebrated its 24th Anniversary on 30 October 2020 at San Nicolas West, Agoo, La Union enthusiastically participated in by 35 residents, five (5) guests, and 20 Home for Girls staff. With this year’s theme “Celebrating our Past, Inspiring the Future,” the event highlighted the appreciation of individuals/donors, recognition of best resident and supportive HFG staff, and showcasing of talents by the residents.

A thanksgiving mass, followed by the blessing of the new HFG building, commenced the activity to further dedicate the continuous success of the Center’s operations. The presentation of the virtual messages touched the clients emotionally as they watched their family members, DSWD officials, partners, and sponsors pledge their support to them. The opening of the “Children’s Village” added excitement to the residents as they experienced the cinema, carnival, and photo studio to feel the amusement vibe and ease away the feeling of restriction brought about by the pandemic. The annual celebration aims to acknowledge the Center’s accomplishments and recognize the efforts of the clients, staff, partners, sponsors, and other stakeholders in the realization of the HFG objective as well as to develop a strong bond between the residents and the staff.

The Home for Girls provides a center-based program for the treatment and rehabilitation of sexually abused children (residents) that aims to heal the wounds of abuse and exploitation and nurture their formation from victims to healthy child survivors.
