The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is conducting its first Search for Modelong Ama ng Pantawid Pamilya 2017. This is one of the advocacy initiatives of the DSWD to bring about transformed gender relations among Pantawid Pamilya households and to encourage homes to be free from gender-based discrimination and violence.

Modelong Ama Search is one way to rally support from men to champion women empowerment and gender equality and build them up to promote better gender relations at home and in the community.

The four Pantawid Pamilya fathers vying as Regional Winner are Mr. Conrado Achuela of Paoay, Ilocos Norte; Mr. Fredo Domine of Burgos, Ilocos Sur; Pastor Severino Dingcog of Bacnotan, La Union; and Mr. Way Ruaboro of Mangatarem, Pangasinan (from left to right).

These contenders are Program beneficiaries for at least two years; a father, grandfather, solo parent, or husband who is at least 28 years old; with good moral standing; has no gender-related cases in the last five years; renowned male role model in the community especially in the protection of women and children; and associated with a family who is at least 85% compliant in all Program conditionalities.

With the contenders’ unique features, only one will be proclaimed as the first Modelong Ama ng Pantawid Pamilya regionwide. Result of the regional validation will be out and the awarding will happen before the month ends. Plaques and certificates will be given away and cash prizes are at stake. The Regional Winner will represent the Region in the national level. (by: Jaesem Ryan A. Gaces, Information Officer II/ Pantawid Pamilya)
