Two (2) Philippine Navy Ships (BRP Ivatan AT928 and BRP Batak AT299) carrying 13,602 Family Food Packs (FFPs) or 2,267 sacks of relief goods from the National Resource Operations Center of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) arrived yesterday at Poro Point, City of San Fernando, La Union.

The FFPs are for augmentation assistance to the affected families of Typhoon “Ineng” in Ilocos Region. With the help of the Philippine Navy, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Army, FFPs were transmitted from the two (2) Landing Craft Heavy ships to the 10 trucks of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Escorted by DSWD – Field Office I employees, the FFPs are being delivered to the DSWD Provincial Operations Office in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte and in the Province of Abra.

950 lang na mga sako ang kayang i-load ng 10 trucks ng Army kaya tuloy-tuloy lang ang loading, pagkatapos maideliver balik agad para tuloy-tuloy ang serbisyo (950 sacks can only be loaded in the 10 Army trucks that is why after the delivery, trucks will return immediately to continue the shipment),” Naval Forces Northern Luzon (NFNL) Deputy Commander Capt. Albert A. Mogol said.

According to DSWD-FO1 General Administration and Support Services Division Chief Benjamin F. Baldo, the DSWD truck is also being utilized in transporting the FFPs.

Moreover, DSWD-FO I Disaster Response Assistance and Management Unit Head Maricel Caleja said that 9,602 FFPs were allocated for the Province of Ilocos Norte while the remaining 4,000 FFPs were allotted to the Province of Abra.

To date, a total of 45,982 families with 202,999 individuals in 384 barangays of 43 cities/municipalities were affected in the 3 provinces of the Region.
