Showcasing products and services of Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries from different municipalities in the Region, DSWD-FO1 held the nationwide holiday bazaar dubbed as PaskuJuan: Salu-Salo sa Pagbabago Festival and Bazaar in the City of San Fernando.

Initiated by the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the DSWD, PaskuJuan is an opportunity to market beneficiaries’ products and inspire them to engage more into income generating activities.

A total of 17 booths sold local products such as softbrooms, abel, and other souvenir items. Food products were also available such as dried fish (daing), peanut butter, and soya milk along with local delicacies such as puto, bibingka, and bagnet. Likewise, reflexology and therapeutic massage, pedicure and manicure were also offered. Further, livelihood demonstrations were also provided such as softbroom, parol and polvoron/pastillas making. Most creative and unique booths were also given recognition Best Dressed Booth was bagged by Anda, Pangasinan; Best in Displayed Products award was taken home by Sudipen, La Union while the Best Seller Product award was brought home by Tayug, Pangasinan with their delicious peanut butter.

A ceremonial boodle lunch was also prepared for partner  implementers, media, and LGUs to further strengthen ties and encourage them to help in sustaining livelihood projects of Pantawid Pamilya households.

DSWD FO1 Regional Director Marcelo Nicomedes J. Castillo said that purchases from the event will help beneficiaries provide for their families and eventually improve their well being and ultimately their children’s future.

The said event was made possible in partnership with the City Government of San Fernando,  Provincial Government of La Union, other participating LGUs, and sponsors.

SLP is a community-based capacity building program that seeks to improve the socio-economic status of program beneficiaries by enabling them to manage sustainable microenterprises or link them to locally available jobs.(by: ALLAN O. LULU, Information Officer II/ Pantawid Pamilya)
