DSWD Field Office-1 provided 1,066 family food packs or relief worth Php 268,596.20 as an augmentation support to requesting Local Government Units of Paoay in Ilocos Norte; Calasiao and Bolinao in Pangasinan for the victims of ‘Typhoon Jose’.

At the onslaught of the typhoon, immediate assistance to the typhoon victims was provided by Local Government Units of Currimao and Paoay in Ilocos Norte; and Calasiao, Pangasinan which had initially extended family food packs amounting to Php 109,600.00.

As assured by Asst. Regional Director for Operations Marlene Febes D. Peralta, prepositioned goods are still maintained in the provinces ready for any massive destruction in need of bigger number of family food packs. Aside from Php 2 million- worth stockpile of food packs at the warehouse located at the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY), Php 6M worth of non-food items are also available. These are ready to be distributed to requesting LGUs as an immediate response.

Non-food items include clothing, blankets, bedsheets, basin, water jugs, foot wear, hygiene kits, among others.

To comply with the directives of Secretary ‘Dinky’ Soliman of 30,000 family food packs as stockpile in each DSWD regional office, volunteers and Quick Action Response Team (QUART) members repacked family food packs even during the weekend.( by: Iryn D. Cubangbang, Information Officer II)
