Worth of relief augmentation such as food and non-food items delivered to requesting Local Government Units (LGUs) has reached Php 19.1M in the last 2 weeks.

Hard-hit areas in Pangasinan got Php 15.9M for 214,743 affected families in 43 cities/municipalities; La Union, Php 3M for the 24,614 affected families in 19 LGUs; and only Adams, Ilocos Norte requested augmentation amounting to Php 88,125.00.

With this huge amount and still on-going delivery of family food packs, DSWD is about to facilitate the recovery and rehabilitation activities for these affected families.

An Early Recovery Program and Rehabilitation Plan for Emergency Shelter Assistance (ESA) for affected families was submitted to DSWD-Disaster Response Assistance and Management Bureau for approval and downloading of funds.

The early recovery assessment and validation conducted by Engr. Honesto Pardo of DSWD-Central Office, Disaster Management Focal Person Maricel Caleja and Regional Executive Assistant Fleureeza Marie Liwanag in hard hit areas of Pangasinan such as Alaminos City, Bani, and Sual also resulted to initial consultations and technical inputs on activities done by the LGUs.

These activities were reflected in the said submitted plan.

Cash and/or Food for Work will rebuild and restore structures and at the same time provide temporary work for disaster victims in the communities. ESA will provide financial assistance for the repair and reconstruction of damaged houses.

Moreover, the Core Shelter Assistance Program (CSAP) will help the families build their new homes with financial assistance from DSWD and Local Government Units’ counterparts such as lot, site development, hired skill workers, among others. (by: Iryn D. Cubangbang, Information Officer II)
