The Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office (FO1) 1 – Ilocos Region Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) marked its 45th Founding Anniversary with the theme: “A Place to Call Home – Where Love, Hope, and Healing Reside.” This milestone emphasized the Center’s growth and success, bringing together former and retired RRCY employees, successful alumni, partner Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and guests from the DSWD.

One of the highlights of the celebration was Panagyaman, a recognition ceremony that honored various CSOs and donors who have consistently supported RRCY’s initiatives. The event also featured the RRCY Employees Reward System Program 2025, acknowledging staff who demonstrated exceptional creativity, innovation, efficiency, integrity, and productivity in public service. Awards were presented to individuals who made significant contributions to the enhancement of RRCY programs, operational improvements, and the overall welfare of its clientele.

Furthermore, one of the most anticipated segments was the Mr. RRCY 2025 competition, where 10 candidates vied for the title. The Retro Dance Competition also added a vibrant touch to the celebration, as both staff and residents showcased their impressive performances.

The event’s guest of honor, PMsgt. Nathaniel Mones, a former RRCY resident, emphasized in his speech, the importance of self-awareness and transformation, underscoring the profound impact RRCY had on his life.

Sabi ko noon, hindi ako muling tatapak sa RRCY hangga’t wala akong naibibigay na resulta. At ngayon, nandito na ako, nakasuot ng uniporme, nagsasalita ng matikas at malinaw – dahil ‘yun sa RRCY (I once told myself that I would never return to RRCY until I have accomplished something. Now, here I am, in uniform, speaking confidently and clearly—this is all because of RRCY),” he shared with conviction.

RRCY’s 45th Founding Anniversary not only commemorated the Center’s rich history but also reaffirmed its commitment to providing a home where love, hope, and healing flourish. The event was a testament to the collective efforts of employees, partners, and former residents in making RRCY a sanctuary of transformation and new beginnings. (by Bren John B.
