Eight million worth of Livelihood Assistance was awarded by the DSWD Field Office 1 – Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) to qualified beneficiaries in Ilocos Norte under the fund of Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Alexander “Sandro” A. Marcos III.
Twenty SLP Associations with 23 association projects and 304 individual projects, 25 individual referrals, and 1 under Employment Facilitation Track from 1 city and 8 municipalities of the 1st district of Ilocos Norte benefited from the said grant to be utilized for their chosen livelihood.
On behalf of DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian, Ms. Noraida T. Busran, Grievance and Referral Management Section Head of the SLP- National Program Management Office congratulated the beneficiaries for receiving the grants, she has high hopes that all of them will reach the last stage of the SLP’s 5-year Sustainability Plan under the new program guidelines.
“Bilang leader ng aming SLPA pinangangako kong pagbubutihin namin ang aming magiging negosyo nang sa gayon ito ay lumago pa at madagdagan ang aming pinagkakakitaan (As the leader of our SLPA I promise that we will do our best to grow our business so that we could generate other enterprise as an additional income for the association),” Erlinda Quelingi, Tag-Ay ti Amianan SLPA President confidently said.
“Ang aming asosasyon ay nagpapasalamat sa DSWD FO 1 – SLP dahil sa malaking oportunidad na ito at sa lahat ng tao sa likod ng programang ito na tumulong sa aming mga mahihirap na magkaroon ng pagkakataong makapaghanapbuhay (Our association is grateful to DSWD FO 1 – SLP for this great opportunity and to all the people behind this program who helped us poor to have the chance to make a living),” she added.
SLP is a capability-building program of the DSWD that provides access to opportunities that increase the productivity of the livelihood assets of the poor, vulnerable, and marginalized communities in order to improve their socioeconomic well-being.
