As part of the preparedness of the DSWD Field Office 1 (DSWD FO 1) for the possible request for augmentation from Local Government Units (LGUs) affected by Typhoon “Karding, there are 29,229 Family Food Packs and 12,663 Non-Food Items consists of Family Kit, Hygiene Kit, Sleeping Kit, Kitchen Kit, Laminated Sack, Family Tent, and Modular Tent prepositioned and readily available at the 13 regional and satellite warehouses in Region 1.

The DSWD FO 1 has a standby Quick Response Fund amounting to PhP8,700,642.31 which will be utilized to cover relief and rehabilitation operations during disaster and calamities.

Assistant Regional Director for Operations Marlene Febes D. Peralta assured the readiness of the Field Office during the briefing with DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo yesterday, 25 September 2022.

As the Incident Management Team (IMT) Responsible Officer (RO), Regional Director (RD) Marie Angela S. Gopalan directed all the IMT Members to be proactive in the possible augmentation to LGUs most especially to Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) during the IMT meeting today, 26 September 2022.

 

RD Gopalan also reminded the IMT to prioritize the safety of the DSWD staff during disaster operations in order to provide the maagap at mapagkalingang serbisyo to vulnerable sectors.

According to the DSWD FO 1 Situational Report, 428 families conducted pre-emptive evacuation in Pangasinan and La Union and no affected families reported yet. Nevertheless, the DSWD FO 1 continues to coordinate with the LGUs to determine the extent of the typhoon and to identify other appropriate assistance. by Nicole Kasandra A.
