Bani Delicious Ice Cream SLPA President Fernando Versales inspects the packaging of Dairy Box’s flavored carabao’s milk.

Bani Delicious Ice Cream Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (SLPA) enhanced knowledge on the production of dairy products made of carabao’s milk, through the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office 1’s (DSWD FO 1) SLPA Learning Visit: Road to Mainstreaming on 15 July 2021 at Dairy Box, Asingan, Pangasinan.

The said activity is in partnership with the Philippine Carabao Center – Rosario, La Union, Bantog Samahang Nayon Multipurpose Cooperative (BSNMPC) and the Municipal Government of Bayambang.

SLP Government Sector Partnership Officer Roger P. Jimenez said that the activity will increase the SLPA’s potential as supplier to different government agencies’ feeding programs. He also mentioned that the good practices of BSNMPC would serve as a basis for Bani Delicious Ice Cream SLPA to improve their products and services and to avail other programs of the government.

“Sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalakas ng kanilang kapasidad, naniniwala tayong malaki ang magiging kontribusyon nila sa ating pamayanan at balang araw, sila ay ating magiging katuwang sa pagpapalaganap ng ating programa (Through strengthening their capacity, we believe that they will have a big contribution to our society, and they will also be our partners in promoting our program),” Jimenez explained.

Aside from the demonstration on the use of ice cream making machineries and processing of different carabao dairy products, the 13 participants were taught on its income opportunities. Shifting from traditional ice cream making to modern production, Bani Delicious Ice Cream SLPA President Fernando Versales said that the activity provided a more efficient technique to them.

“Maliban sa bagong kaalaman, tumatak rin sa amin ‘yung sinabi ninyong patuloy na mangarap. Napagkaisahan naming SLPA na marating din itong naabot ng Bantog (Aside from the new learning, your advice to continue dreaming really struck us. We agreed as an SLPA to also aim on attaining what Bantog has reached),” Versales added.

Bayambang Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Kimberly P. Basco expressed her excitement for other possible partnerships with DSWD FO 1 and thanked the agency for its continuous support not just to Bani Delicious Ice Cream SLPA but to other Bayambangeños as well.
