The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with the City Government of Alaminos is set to build 500 core shelter units for indigent families through its Core Shelter Assistance Program (CSAP).
This ongoing construction is funded by DSWD in the amount of Php 66 million and the City’s counterpart on lot, site development, other housing materials, and the sweat equity of the beneficiaries.
Recently, 15 core shelter units were turned over to families identified by the City Government of Alaminos in Sitio Rosario, Lucap, Alaminos City. At present, there are already 228 core shelter units established in Brgy. Mangapisan, Brgy. Victoria and Brgy. Lucap.
The turn-over ceremony was graced by City Mayor Arth Bryan C. Celeste, Regional Director Marie Angela S. Gopalan, and former City Mayor Arthur F. Celeste on 17 June 2021.
“A home is where love begins, for the houses that you receive, make it a home for your children, make this happy,” City Mayor Arth Bryan Celeste said.
Former City Mayor Arthur F. Celeste who started CSAP (years back) in the said city advised the beneficiaries to be “magtiyaga, magsakripisyo, magkaroon ng disiplina at huwag laging umasa sa pamahalaan (persevere, sacrifice, be disciplined and not always depend on the assistance from the government)”. Also, core shelter units owners were reminded to not create any trouble within the community and maintain own vegetable garden in their own backyards. More importantly, Regional Director acknowledged the effective partnership of DSWD and Alaminos City in the CSAP. Director Gopalan shared the recent activity she attended with the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) strengthening peace and security in the government. “Walang pag-unlad kung walang kapayapaan lalo na kung may mga sigalot sa mga tahanan. Magtanim, tulungan ang sarili dahil ang ‘budget’ ay may hangganan (Without peace, there is no progress especially when there is conflict inside the homes. Help yourselves by planting, the budget has end)”. Lastly she reiterated that the government exists to assist people help themselves. By: Iryn D. Cubangbang, IO II, Social Marketing Unit)
