Kalahi-CIDSS community volunteers (Barangay Representation Teams <BRTs> and Project Preparation Teams <PPTs>) in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur convened for the conduct of Kalahi-CIDSS Project Development Workshop (PDW) as part of the Program’s Project Proposal Development.
The PDW is a fraction of the Community Empowerment Activity Cycle (CEAC) of Kalahi-CIDSS sub-project implementation where community volunteers undergo a workshop on how to identify, make, and review their project proposal, proposal content based on Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), and discover probable funds in case allocated grant is insufficient. This training among Kalahi-CIDSS community volunteers is a methodology that aims to uphold community empowerment which is the Program’s main objective.
PPT volunteer Gregorio Quinio, 58, from Brgy. Banga, being a first-time community volunteer as well as in making a project proposal, sees this workshop very useful in preparing their barangay’s sub-project plans. “Natutunan ko at ng aking mga kapwa volunteer kung paano paghandaan ang sub-project na aming napili upang matrabaho nang husto ang sub-project implementation at malaanan ng saktong pondo upang mas epektibo ang kalalabasan at mas beneficial sa tao (My co-volunteers and I have learned how to prepare the proposed sub-projects we have chosen, so that we can implement the sub-project at our best and allocate the exact fund for a more effective outcome and make the sub-project become beneficial to the people”, Mr. Quinio stressed.
The strong support and commitment which outgrow from the empowerment of Kalahi-CIDSS community volunteers specifically from the BRTs and the PPTs for this activity is the anchor that gives a probable sub-project prioritization for their respective barangay sub-project proposal.
At the end of the workshop, PPT volunteers already know how to make project proposals for their sub-projects with knowledge on preliminary project concepts and their indicative costs. Matters and concerns on environmental and social safeguards were also brought out to ensure that no social or environmental domain is disrespected upon project implementation.
