Anda_BakeryImprovement of well-being is being escalated all the more among the 30 Pantawid Pamilya partner-beneficiaries who are now operating a 24-hour bakery in Anda, Pangasinan thanks to the capital assistance received from Sustainable Livelihood Program.

They started producing the nutritious malunggay pandesal as the main product. Now, there are 11 kinds of local breads cooked with the help of two professional bakers who are also Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries.

With the use of nine bikes that deliver the bread everyday, average gross sales range from Php2,500.00 to Php4,000.00 for daily operation. Sometimes, their sales reach more than Php 6,000.00 especially during Conditional Cash Transfer pay-outs and special occasions in Anda.

The Association earned a gross sales of Php164,019.00 including those sales during the PaskuJuan Bazaar and Trade Fair in Bauang, La Union and Araneta Coliseum in Metro Manila recently.

With all these initial gains, baker Dericho Consuelo expressed appreciation to the program implementers saying “Bilib na ako, naniniwala na ako sa gobyerno (I am amazed, I already believe in the government).”

This growing enterprise was made possible with the seed capital amounting to Php 300,000.00 through Bottom-up Budgeting of the Sustainable Livelihood Program of DSWD.

The Local Government of Anda, Pangasinan also provided a public lot for the construction of the bakeshop and linked the Association to partners and other stakeholders.

The Anda KLAP SEA-K Multi-Purpose Cooperative also helped the association in providing raw materials and other technical assistance on marketing and financial management. The members of the Association also agreed to use their income for daily operation expenses including water, light, power and maintenance, and repayment.

Recently, the Local Government of Anda, Pangasinan was awarded as the Best LGU Partner on the implementation of Sustainable Livelihood Program in the Region. Likewise, Anda KLAP was the Regional Entry on Microenterprise and became one of the Finalists of the 2015 Bangon Kabuhayan National Search. (by: Iryn D. Cubangbang, IO II with report from Ardel C.
